CRITICAL THINKING'S EFFECT ON LEARNING AND SPEAKING ENGLISH WITH TUTORS

In Malaysia, encouraging critical thinking has played a significant role in raising public knowledge. English classroom activities do not allow pupils to apply their critical thinking abilities. Some English speaking tutors still instruct their pupils using the old manner, which may prevent them from developing critical thinking skills. Well-known language schools that provide online tutoring have long included critical thinking lessons. These courses help students improve their language abilities while also helping students grow as a person. The LiveXP's english speaking tutor frequently teaches students about many socially significant themes, which makes the class memorable and satisfying. Therefore, if critical thinking is promoted in the classroom, it will shape students into citizens who are more imaginative and capable of using their talents successfully in the future. This study explores how critical thinking is used for language acquisition and how it improves English language proficiency in ESL students. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather data using a qualitative methodology. In order to acquire a comprehensive understanding of how students' critical thinking skills have improved as they study the English language, the sample included 30 postgraduate students in Selangor. Utilizing content analysis, the data were qualitatively analyzed.

Students' involvement with the subject matter of the English class can be increased by combining English learning and critical thinking. Exploratory tasks are used to start the critical thinking process, and they are closely related to reflection since they let students think independently. In addition, it is asserted in research by Zemsky that the emphasis should be on high-priority content that fosters critical thinking rather than content coverage. Additionally, more studies should be done on critical thinking, where there are more public recommendations. The government should emphasize the value of critical thinking and allow it to occur through the curriculum. Because it deals with real-life issues, introducing critical thinking into the classroom is advantageous. Critical thinking should be encouraged from an early age, allowing students to develop creative and critical thinking skills throughout their academic careers. Long-term, students will be able to use their critical thinking skills in the workplace. Students' interest in finding answers to the issue will be piqued by the use of critical thinking and organized controversy, involving them in active learning that will advance their comprehension and respect of many points of view. Students must also exercise complicated reasoning and critical thinking abilities. As a result, students are exposed to a wider variety of concepts that will aid them in developing original solutions and fresh interpretations of contentious issues. As a result, it elevates pupils' thinking and encourages more significant learning. The study's conclusions showed that students could learn more effectively using critical thinking, improving their English language abilities. The findings showed that the students could participate in reflective and autonomous thought to address issues with learning by applying critical thinking.
